Here are links to some freeware and shareware programs that will be of interest to anyone with a computer (not just for webmasters). 
If you like cats you'll love this screensaver. It was created from video of
real cats in action. You'll need Microsoft's IE 4+ to run it. Cost: FREE
Catmoves
From the recent (real) "love" virus, we have learned about the hazards of
.vbs files as vehicles for spreading viruses. Along comes www.analogx.com
with a handy program to detect .vbs files and warn you before you open them
by mistake. Be sure you download (and install)
Script Defender. I use it and highly recommend it. (And best of all -
it's free!)
Those of you who can't afford or just don't like Microsoft Excel or the other
big spreadsheet programs will appreciate this simple spreadsheet. Although it
isn't loaded with as many features as the "big guns", it has all the basic
features most people need, including workbooks with 256 columns x 65,000 plus
rows x 255 worksheets, the usual arithmetic operations along with more than 300
other functions, and you can create formulas with more than 255 characters. It
isn't as powerful as those other guys, but with these features there's little you could
miss. Spread32 received 4 stars on ZDNet. Cost: FREE
